MSc Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine

Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine is a rapidly evolving branch of medicine involved in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, coronary heart disease and peripheral vascular disease. This online Masters course in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine is designed to be practical and clinically focused and will focus on applying scientific principles to direct patient care. MSc Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine starts with an initial 12 week online module that will develop skills in critical appraisal and knowledge of research methodologies. Students then complete the professional project module, which consists of a 1,500 word proposal and 10,500 word professional project (dissertation). Year One Students progressing from the PG Diploma course do the one-year MSc consisting of the following modules: Core Research Methodologies and Critical Evaluation in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine This module will address the terminology and methodologies used in epidemiology and research studies, and you will learn how to interpret graphical and other statistical data such as Kaplan-Meier Curves, Forrest Plots and Meta-analyses. You will produce a report of 12000 words which will include a project proposal of 1,500 words and the remaining 10,500 words will consist of a literature review and an evidence appraisal, clinical or organisational practice audit. It will also involve the implementation of evidence-based practice and undertaking qualitative or quantitative research. As part of the module you will be in regular contact with your tutor who will offer guidance and supervision either via email, telephone or SKYPE.
